This customer needed to replace the supports on the inside of the hull of a sailboat. These beams carry and distribute the weight of the keel and were originaly constructed of wood. We were asked to replace the originals and update the materials. We fabricated these beams of a medium density foam core with a carbon fiber uni-directional laminate all vacuum bagged to a flat table to keep them straight during the cure. The new beams came in at less than one third of the weight of the originals and are stiffer as well. keel floor

A custom stereo installation prompted this project. A boat owner wanted speakers mounted in an area of the vessel where a flush mount was not possible. We fabricated these tapered, curved boxes to fit the desired location. The face angle was designed to focus sound at a particular area in the cabin. The boxes were finished in gel coat to match the cabin interior. keel floor
